Blackpool Council's Trading Standards have been successfully running a Proof of Age Card Scheme since 2000 and gained PASS Accreditation in 2005.

In response to consultation with our licence holders and customers, the Blackpool Card was relaunched in December 2010 to include a 16+ Card (valid until the day before an applicants 18th birthday) and the 18+ Card.  The 18+ Card has the added security of embossing on the date when the holder reaches 18 and is widely acceted in venues and retail outlets throughout Blackpool.

Cards are issued free of charge to Year 11 students in participating Blackpool High Schools and personal applications for either the 16+ or the 18+  card can be made in  via our offices on 125 Albert Road, Blackpool, FY1 4PW.

All cards are charged at £10

Bracknell Forest e+ SmartCard

The e+ PASS card is issued between ages 12 and 26 to those living, working or studying in Bracknell Forest. First e+ cards are free. Apply at council offices, libraries and leisure centres. All e+ cards can be used as library & leisure cards and to access discounts agreed with Bracknell Forest businesses and shops too.

Bromley Trading Standards launched, BIZ, their PASS accredited Proof of Age card in April 2008. The BIZ card is issued free of charge to all students in Years 11-13 attending participating schools within Bromley borough (the scheme is currently open to all secondary schools in the borough).

The card features the PASS hologram, with a picture of the young person and the dates on which they become 16 and 18 years old. The holders’ date of birth appears on the reverse. The card also doubles as a Library card.

Young people who would like to obtain a BIZ card can contact Trading Standards who will contact the school on their behalf.

Derbyshire County Council b_line

b_line is the travel, discount and library scheme for 65,000 young people in Derbyshire, operated in partnership with Derby City Council. b_line1 is for 11 to 13 year-olds and proves they qualify for a child fare on public transport. b_line2 is for 14 to18 year-olds and enables them to get half fare travel on buses and trains in Derbyshire and on some cross-border journeys to and from neighbouring towns and cities. All b_line cardholders can get discounts of typically 10 per cent or more at around 800 local businesses, including shops and on other services, plus they can use their card to borrow at all Derbyshire and Derby city libraries. b_line became PASS-accredited in July 2008.

The Isle of Man Government 18+ Proof of Age Card was launched by the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading on 1st September 2004 and the scheme was granted PASS accreditation in February 2007. The card displays the holder’s photograph, name and date of birth and is only issued to applicants aged 18 or over. The cost of the card is £5.
Retailers and licensees can find it difficult to assess the age of young people wishing to buy age-restricted goods. The 18+ Proof of Age card helps them to comply with the law and allow anyone aged 18 or over to buy the goods they want without difficulty. The Island’s legislation sets 18 as the minimum age for buying both tobacco and alcohol.

ID4U

ID4U is run by Selby District Nightsafe Group and supported by North Yorkshire Trading Standards and North Yorkshire Police. Any Person who lives, works or visits the Yorkshire region can apply for an ID4U card. Membership of the scheme is at a cost determined by the coordinators at present £1.50.

Oldham’s Justif:ID Proof of Age Scheme

Oldham’s ID Scheme ‘JUSTIF:ID’ was launched at the beginning of 2006 as part of Oldham’s StreetSafe campaign which aims to reduce alcohol related disorder and violence within Oldham.

The Proof-of-Age card is available to any between the ages of 18-25 and is available through the Connexions Centre every Thursday 2.00 to 7.00pm. The first several thousand cards will be issued free of charge, cards will cost £2 thereafter.

The card is issued free to Year 11's (15/16 year olds) in Sandwell schools and is operated in partnership by Sandwell MBC Trading Standards and Rowley Regis and Tipton Primary Care Trust. The scheme currently has 15 out of 18 schools on board with the Sandwell Proof-of-Age Scheme.

The Smartcities card is available to anyone over the age of 3. In July 2005, extra services for the Smartcities card were introduced. The services which you can feature on your card are; to register you details for NHS Organ Donation, apply for a PASS accredited card, obtain a library account and obtain a leisure discount within Southampton City Council venues.

London Borough of Southwark Trading Standards launched their SPA (Southwark Proof of Age) card in 2007.

Cards are issued free of charge to all students in Years 11-13 in Southwark’s schools and colleges. The card shows date of birth on the reverse with details on the front of when the cardholder is 16 and 18 years of age.

Cards are also available, free of charge, to the borough’s residents aged 16-25.

A dedicated section of the Council’s website has been set up www.southwark.gov.uk/spa and incentives of local discounts are being arranged.

The unusual design is based on the staircase in the Greater London Assembly’s building, which is based in Southwark. It was chosen as a result of feedback from potential card users.

The 16+ Proof-Of-Age Card is distributed free of charge to all 16 year olds in local authority schools and most independent schools throughout the borough of Stockport. The card displays the holders photograph, date of birth and the date of their 18th birthday. The scheme has been operating since 1999.
