PASS welcomes digital ID future whilst ensuring access to digital proof of age for all  now

PASS welcomes the Prime Minister’s announcement setting out plans for a national digital  identity scheme. A secure, trusted and universal form of identification can bring significant  benefits to citizens and businesses alike.

Delivering a system of this scale will take time, and in the meantime it is vital that millions of  people continue to have access to simple, safe and recognised proof of age. For over 20 years  PASS has provided that solution, as the only Home Office and Security Industry Authority  accredited proof of age scheme. The PASS kitemark is trusted by retailers, enforcement  agencies and young people, with millions of cards issued to date.

PASS is also future-ready. Our digital product, dPASS, has been developed to robust technical  and privacy standards and is already being rolled out across retail and hospitality. dPASS  ensures that young people under 18, and adults who need trusted proof of age now, well  before any national scheme is delivered, are not excluded from everyday life.

As Government takes forward its digital identity programme, PASS stands ready to support its  delivery. With established infrastructure, retailer interoperability, and a unique focus on  universal access, PASS is ideally placed to complement national digital identity plans while  continuing to provide the trusted, practical proof of age solutions that are needed today.
